Walker and his wife Eliza Lefurgey, and was actively engaged in farming, a life work he enjoyed until his retirement in 1973. "His last years were spend (sic) in Crapaud. On February 24, 1979, he became ill and entered the Prince Edward Island Hospital and failed to recover. "Of a sweet and unassuming nature, he was a man of strong convictions, and to those who knew him, integrity and dependability made up the creed by which he lived. His many friends can testify that he thoroughly understood the meaning of what it is to be a good neighbour. "Left to mourn the passing of a loving husband and father, are his wife Neavey Myers of Victoria, whom he married in 1919, and three children: Eileen, Mrs. Robert J. Haines, Niagara Falls, Ontario; Mildred, R.N. of Toronto, Ontario; and John of Crapaud. Granddaughter Roberta, and two great grandchildren all of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Also his beloved only sister Floss - Mrs. J. McCurdy Bell, Charlottetown."9 |
