He was the son of Percy Ernest Lowther and Ethel Jane Waugh.1
Marriage*Earl Lowther married Margaret Janet Marchbank, daughter of James S. R. Marchbank and Amy Delvina MacMurdo, on 20 June 1942.1
Death*Earl Lowther died on 8 March 2002, at age 93, in Cornwall, Queens County, Prince Edward Island, Canada; OBITUARY EARL LOWTHER Peacefully at his home in Cornwall surrounded by his family Earl Lowther passed away on March 8, 2002 at the age of 93. Earl was born in North Carlton on June 4, 1908, and at the age of 12, moved with his family to Cornwall. He was the second son of Percy and Ethel (Waugh) Lowther. In 1942 he married the former Margaret Marchbank who survives him. Earl is survived by sons Lance (Phyllis) and Donald (Barbara), grandchildren Jamie (Maryellen), Lisa, Trent (Julie Frahar), Tina (Dwayne Stride), Stacy, step-grandsons Ken and Peter Trueman, and great-grandsons Coady and Jesse. He was predeceased by his brother Waldon (Beulah) and sisters Doris (Bruce) MacKinley and Marjorie (Reg) Jenkins. Earl farmed all his active life, at first with his father, and in later years, with his son Donald. He could be considered a 'jack-of-all-trades' and enjoyed a game of cards or crokinole. He was a member of the Cornwall United Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and was also a trustee of Cornwall school. Earl will be remembered as an honest and upright citizen who was interested in the good of his community and enjoyed the love and respect of his family. Earl's funeral was held from Cutcliffe Funeral Home with Rev. Gail Hopkirk officiating. The Cornwall United Church Choir was in attendance with Phyllis Newman as organist. Doug Green, soloist, beautifully rendered 'Last Mile of the Way'. Pallbearers were nephews Bruce MacKinley, Leigh Jenkins, Douglas Jenkins, George Lowther, David Gillis, and Temple Stewart. Interment was in Cornwall Cemetery. Members of Cornwall Women's Institute and Cornwall United Church Women attended as a group. The family acknowledges with thanks the many expressions of sympathy extended by way of cards, donations of food, monetary donations, and acts of kindness. Special thanks to Cornwall UCW for refreshments served following the funeral service.2
