He leaves to mourn his widow, formerly Hilda Baglole, and two children, Harold and Audrey; his mother, Mrs. John A. Barlow Sr., who was too ill to attend the funeral; two sisters, Mrs. John A. Coulson, Sea View; Mrs. Raymond H. Christian, Bristol, Conn; five brothers: Clayton, Wellington; Aylward, Summerside; Harold, Western Canada; Henry, Sioux, Iowa; Spurgeon, Amherst, Mass; a brother James Archibald died some years ago.

Funeral services were conducted by the minister, Rev. Dr. A. S. Murray, and was held in the Wellington Church Monday afternoon. The deceased's favorite hymns were sung, "Lead Kindly Light," "The Sands of Time are Sinking." Mr. Roy Phillips sang, "Will the Circle Be Unbroken." The remains were laid to rest at Union Corner beside his father who predeceased him just three months ago. At the grave "Abide With Me," was sung. The pallbearers were his cousins: Howard Barlow, John S. Barlow, Ira Barlow, Garfield Day, Milton McCarville, John Baglole."5,7,8

The funeral was held on August 6th in the United Church of Wellington, the service was conducted by Dr. A. S. Murray of Wellington. The following hymns were sung: "Rock of Ages" "The Lord's My Shepherd," "Peace Perfect Peace;" also Mr. Roy Philips of Tyne Valley sang beautifully "Does Jesus Care." Burial was in Union Corner. The pallbearers were Mr. Barlow's grandson and five nephews: Leighton Coulson, Howard Barlow, John S. Barlow, Ira Barlow, Edward Ferguson and Lloyd Ferguson."10,3

Death*John Preston Barlow died on 5 February 1945, at age 27, in Vielslam, Belgium; the casualty report recorded that Preston was the pilot of a Canadian Air Force Lancaster on its way to Bonn, Germany, when it collided in clouds with another Canadian Lancaster, about 5 miles south of Vielslam. This was Preston's 50th trip. On a previous flight he was shot down over water; he and his crew spent 6 hours in a dinghy before being rescued.1

From Marche-en-Famenne, the N86 leads towards Hotton. On reaching Hotton, the cemetery is located 500 metres on the N86 towards Menil.
