After completing high school, she moved to San Francisco to attend Childrens' Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1940. When World War II broke out, she joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at the U.S. Army Hospital at Ft. Lewis, WA. There, she met Dr. Thomas Lea Magee , MD, of Carmel. The two were married in 1947, and moved to the Monterey Peninsula, where they raised two sons, Lea and Duff. Jane worked for many years as a Registered Nurse in the medical offices of Drs. Robert A. Beach and Richard C. Zug of Monterey. Her husband preceded her in death in 1990. She leaves behind many friends and was beloved by all for her warmth and thoughtfulness. She is survived by sons, Lea Magee (Teresa) of Carmel, Duff Magee of Doyle; and two granddaughters. Memorial donations in her name may be made to St. John's Chapel, 1490 Mark Thomas Drive, Monterey, CA 93940."4 |
