"At Bedeque, on Thursday last, Mr. James Clark, Surveyor, to Nancy, daughter of Major Hooper, Esq."
They had three daughters and one son before Nancy died and James remarried.5,3 
Marriage*James A. Clark married second Amy Linkletter, daughter of Thomas M. Linkletter and Clara Craswell, on 14 January 1845 they were married by Rev. A.V.G. Wiggins, recorded 5 January 1846 by R. Hodgson, surrogate; witnesses William Ross & James Linkletter. The marriage recorded shows James Clark as a widower.6
