Lyle Boswall of Marshfield passed away peacefully at Whisperwood Villa at the age of ninety eight. Born in Marshfield on October 5, 1903 the only son of the late Alexander Henry and Mary Ann (Irving) Boswall, he was the youngest of a family of four and was predeceased by his sisters Annie (Fred) MacRae, Lettie (Orris) Gill, and Erna Boswall. On March 26, 1930 he married Pearle Jay and together they raised a family of five children, Roy (Elizabeth), Irving (Margaret), Keir (Mary, predeceased), Beth (Winston) Stewart, and Stella. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild. He and Pearle were married for 67 years at the time of her death on August 30, 1997. His life long occupation was mixed farming where among other livestock he took pride in raising Shorthorn cattle, Oxford Down Sheep, poultry and waterfowl which he exhibited for many years at the Provincial Exhibition, local fairs and fairs throughout the Maritimes. He received special recognition on two occasions from the PEI Provincial Exhibition for his long time participation as a continuous exhibitor from the age of seven until his passing. Over the years, exhibitions were an annual highlight for him and the care of his livestock was ever present on his mind. He served as a president of the P.E.I. Shorthorn Association. In later years he had a family heirloom fiddle restored and derived much enjoyment in learning to play this instrument and in attending practice sessions of the Queens County Fiddlers. Possessing a pleasant spirit he was a well loved father and grandfather and an abiding constant in the lives ofhis family. His funeral was held from the Belvedere Funeral Home on December 5, 2001 with service being conducted by Rev. Tom and Rev. Paula Hamilton, Ministers St. Colomba Presbyterian Church. He was laid to rest in the family plot in Marshfield Community Cemetery. CARD OF THANKS The family of H. Lyle Boswall would like to sincerely thank the staff of Whisperwood Villa for all their care and kindness to our father while he was a resident there. They operated a mercantile store in Lead before coming toWyoming. Fred married Anna Nilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Nilson of Eothen,Wyoming in 1911. They had, Emma Mildred, Charles 'Chuck' Dorwood andRoberta. Following Fred’s marriage, he and John operated a grocery store inHulett, Wyoming called the New Store. They also built a store in Alva,which was operated by Aubray Slaybaugh in 1916. Later John sold patentmedicines. The family lived in Alva and the boys attended the Alva school. Fred’s family moved to Omak, Washington and John’s to Lead, South Dakota. Obituary: "PALMER, GRETA MAYBELLE - It is with great sadness that the family of Greta Palmer announce her death at Bobby's Hospice in Saint John, NB, on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the age of 79. Born in Devon, NB on December 18th, 1932 she was the wife of the late George Palmer. Greta leaves behind her children, Susan (Patrick) Morris of Grand Bay, Richard Palmer (Manuel Vela) of Calgary, AB, and Robert Palmer of Saint Andrews; grandchildren, Patricia and Vanessa Morris and Carly Schofield; brothers, Hazen (Rosaline), Lloyd (Verna), Harold (Joan) and Ken (Florence) Boulter and sisters, Alice Canney, Jessie Saunders, Shirley Finney and Barb Smith. Greta was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Mabel (MacKinnon) Boulter; brothers, Gordon and James Boulter and sister, Doris Smith. The family wish to express their sincere thanks to all the staff of Extra Mural, Saint John and Bobby's Hospice.
Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago St., on Monday, April 23rd, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 24th, 2012 at 11:00 am with Rev. Jane Johnson officiating. A private family interment will take place in the Palmer Cemetery, Central Hampstead, NB.
