At the age of six heand his sisters and brother were placed in the State Orphanage atOwatonna,MN. From there he went to live in a foster home on a farm nearHenning,MN, until he was 17. In 1918 [?] the Orphanage wrote and said his mother had died. He foundhis natural father in 1929, but since he couldn't speak English andNordeen couldn't understand Norwegian they had little in common. Nordeen enlisted in the regular army at Fort Snelling in 1926. After hismarriage he left the army and worked in St. Paul. During World War II he worked in New Foundland for a time and then atMontgomery Wards. In 1949 he went to work for the Minnesota HighwayDepartment and retired in 1968 due to ill-health.' |
