Black passed peacefully away last Tuesday afternoon at his home in Searletown after an illness of over a year. He had practiced his profession of dental surgery in Summerside for several years, until in December 1899 he was obliged by failing health to lay aside the active duties of life. It was then hoped that rest and the tender care of sisters and brother would restore him to health and strength again, and during last summer returning strength seemed to point to his ultimate recovery; but with the season's change a relapse came, and he gradually sank, and for some weeks it was known that the end was not far distant. During his residence in Summerside his manly and conscientious uprightness in every relation of life endeared him to all with whom he became acquainted, and his death will be sincerely mourned by them. Three sisters, the Misses Mattie and Laura, and Mrs. D. Schurman of Charlottetown, and a brother, Mr. Charles Black of Searletown, survive, to whom and to the other mourning relatives we extend our sincere sympathy."3 |
