Obituary: "SCHURMAN, George Gordon - 82, formerly of Rogers Drive, died
June 7, 1994, in Northwood Centre, Halifax. Born in Central
Bedeque, P.E.I., he was a son of the late Robert L. and Ella
(Costain) Schurman. He lived most of his life in Halifax where
he attended the Halifax Academy and Dalhousie University. He was
a salesman with International Correspondence Schools and later
formed George Schurman Real Estate Ltd. He was a president of the
Halifax Dartmouth Real Estate Board; former member of the City
Club, Ashburn Golf Club and the Halifax Curling Club. He was a
member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by a son, Robert,
Halifax; daughter, Marilyn (Mrs. Peter Corkum), Halifax; sister,
Dorothy (Mrs. W.J. Carrell), Costigan, Me; eight grandchildren;
a great-grandson. He was predeceased by his wife, the former
Marguerite Balcom; daughter, Linda Francis; granddaughter, Kelly.
Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be 3 p.m.
Thursday in First Baptist Church, Oxford Street, Rev. John Boyd
officiating. Donations may be made to Northwood Centre or F.B.
