In a list of 83 New Englanders reported dead and missing in a U.S. Navy casualty list reported in the Boston Traveller, of whom 54 were Massachusetts residents, the paper in its reference to some of the victims says:
Seaman Herman A. Bryan, 19-year-old son of Herman G. Bryan, 203 Atlantic Street, North Quincey, was reported missing. After attending Quincey High School he went to Mt. Allison Academy, Sackville, N.B., and also was a member of the Light Horse Artillery there. He joined the Coast Guard in August. In addition to his father he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Robert Palmer of Freeland, P.E.I."1,2 |
