Edward Ketcham1
M, #46891, d. 19 June 1655
Note* | Edward Ketcham was born possibly in County Kent, Near Chatham, England. His date of birth is erroneously shown as 1590-1595. This was only anassumption by various authors as no birth record of Edward has ever beenfound. If anyone has a copy of Edward's birth, please e-mail me at: ksheehan@@infinity.net It is a known fact that Edward used the surname 'CATCHAM'. His Will ofJune 1655, spells his name--Edward Catcham. Edward also spelled hisname, KATCHAM in a deposition about his daughter Sarah, who was courtedby Joseph Whitman. The surname gave way to the KETCHAM, KETCHEM, andKETCHUM spellings down through the centuries. It seems that those that stayed in the Long Island area kept the spellingof KETCHAM. Those that moved to the Conneticut area changed the spellingto KETCHUM. How true these statements are, I really don't know. Cananybody help ???? More information is available on my web page at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ksheehan/index.html The above web page should be up and running by December 15, 2000.1 |
