In 1893 Mr.Dougherty was united in marriage to Miss Henrietta Strong. To this union four children were born, Mable Crepan of Fidley, Minn., Mable Dill and Bertha and Edward Dougherty of Minneapolis, Minn. His wife died in 1902. Dec 26, 1903 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Esther Driscoll. Three children were born to this union, Florence Chorman and Clarence Dougherty of Adrian and Ada, who died in infancy. ........ burial inOakwood Cemetery. Mr. Dougherty is survived by the widow, six children, two grandchildren, five brothers one sister, and his father, John Dougherty. He removed with his father'sfamily to Wallingford, Vt., in 1797; went with his brother Christopher to Springville, N. Y., in 1811; returned to Vermontat the close of the year, and married Lucy Townsend, of Wallingford, in1812 or 1813. In 1814 he emigrated to Fredonia, N. Y. In early life hewas a tanner, but afterwards, and for most of his life, a farmer. He wasfor one term, commencing about 1830, sheriff of Chautauqua county, N. Y.,and in 1840 was a member of the state Legislature. Soon after this heemigrated to Michigan, and settled on a farm near Ann Arbor.
