Dec 26, 1903 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Esther Driscoll. Three children were born to this union, Florence Chorman and Clarence Dougherty of Adrian and Ada, who died in infancy. ........ burial inOakwood Cemetery. He removed with his father'sfamily to Wallingford, Vt., in 1797; went with his brother Christopher to Springville, N. Y., in 1811; returned to Vermontat the close of the year, and married Lucy Townsend, of Wallingford, in1812 or 1813. In 1814 he emigrated to Fredonia, N. Y. In early life hewas a tanner, but afterwards, and for most of his life, a farmer. He wasfor one term, commencing about 1830, sheriff of Chautauqua county, N. Y.,and in 1840 was a member of the state Legislature. Soon after this heemigrated to Michigan, and settled on a farm near Ann Arbor.
