'Probably no other child on this side of the ocean has suffered suchinfliction, though it has long been a tradition that a fondness for OldTestament names, in one instance, brought Beelzebub into use.' (SAVAGE,Vol. II, p. 88-9.) 'Moreover the Lord said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in itwith a man's pen concerning Maher-shalal-hashbaz.' (ISAIAH, VIII, 1) He was a brother to MAJOR WILLIAM DYER of Delaware, intermarried andassociated with N. J. fams., (vide, ante, this PART, p. 725). [FirstSettlers of Ye Plantations of Piscataway and Woodsridge Olde East NewJersey part 5] Resided in Portsmouth, and Newport, RI. Apparently had no children.called 'Maher.'
