He was secretary-agent for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. He died in his home in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. Note*In 1856 he bought Henry Stennick's farm in Upper Gagetown, just above the Sunbury-Queens County boundary line. He married Phoebe Jane Akerley on Jan. 28, 1864. He inherited the land in Canning which his father, John had inherited from his father Elijah the Preacher. This was the first farm below the Queens-Sunbury boundary. William left this Canning land to his son, Edward who sold it to Clarence Gordon of Upper Gagetown, N.B. William died November 15, 1904. His wife died May 29, 1927. and was ninety years of age. in 1856.
