Raye St., Seattle, King County, Washington on Queen Anne Hill next to his mother and father. Captain Dykeman Retired Ship's Master. Dies. At his request, there were no funeral services for Captain Roe Dykeman, 77, of 1852 E. Hamlin Street, a retired master mariner. He died Thursday, January 22, 1970 The Bleitz Funeral Home directed cremation. His ashes are buried, Section One, Lot 354, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Seattle, WA. Captain Dykeman was a member of the Masters Mates and Pilots union. Surviving are his wife, Lola, and three daughters, Mrs. Roella McCoy, Seattle, Mrs. Lenore Lee, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Anita Kelsey, Salem, Oregon. Remembrances are suggested to the American Cancer Society. |

Dykeman's will, dated August 12, 1880, and proved October 25,1880, stipulated that his wife Sophia was to have the use of all hisfurniture during her lifetime and 'her maintenance and support in thehouse and from the farm the same as she now enjoys and possesses.' Herfuneral expenses to be defrayed from his estate. His daughter Harriet Atwood was willed the the furniture after hermother's death, his personal property, including farm stock andequipment, and half his dwelling house; the other half had beentransferred to his son, James G. by deed of gift the proceeding year. Each of four daughters was bequeath land, with proviso that she pay theestate a stipulated sum for it. If such sum was not paid, the landspecified was to be sold and the daughter given the stated amount.Harriet A. received the homestead farm. Two other bequests gave $400. to his Smith grandchildren: Phebe, Clarisa,and Dorcas, and $100. to St. John's Church of Cambridge toward a newchurch at Lower Jemseg where St. James' then stood.
