When she sold Eureka House to her daughter Ruth, she moved back into their earlier home in Victoria. In December 1965 Louise jumped from the Victoria wharf into 12 feet of water to save a drowning little girl named Julianna Boulter. For this heroic act she received the Carnegie Hero Commission Bronze Medal Award. She was also given the highest life-saving award given to Canadians, the Royal Canadian Humane Society Bronze Medal."1 |
