Margaret was born in Scotland on May 18, 1786, and died 1821. John and Margaret had 6 children. John married second Susannah Walker, and they lived near the bridge at Grand River; later they moved away.2

Biographical Note* He was a warden of Pictou County upon his death. He served as president of the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture and Director of Maritime Federation of Agriculture. He was president of Farmers' Co-Operative Dairy for 13 years. He served as elder and clerk of session at Zion Presbyterian Church in Hopewell. He was commissioner of the original Pictou County School Board during the 1940's. He was elected to council in 1934 and named warden in 1965.
