Biographical Note* Lucy Maud was the author of the famous 'Anne of Green Gables' book. Maud served as the Assistant Postmaster in Cavendish from 1898 till her marriage in 1911. Her mother died when she was 21 months old, and and her father, Hugh John, moved to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Except for a year spent with him when she was 15, she was brought up by her grandparents, Alexander and Lucy. She remained in her grandparent's home till Lucy passed away in 1911.
