Othniel Robinson Merritt
M, #1460, b. 15 April 1878, d. 14 March 1960
Name-Com | Othniel Robinson Merritt is commonly known as Othniel Merritt.1 |
Note* | Othniel Merritt researched the Merritt ancestry for both sides of his parents family, his father Israel Merritt and his mother Frances Ann Palmer. He researched back to when they arrived in the U.S.A. from England, their moving to Canada as Loyalists, and up through his parents' and sibilings' families. He completed this and sent a copy to his sister Alice dated April 1958. During his travels Othniel said that they were remodeling one of the ancestral homes in Saint John, New Brunswick for records of the Loyalists. On the bottom of the last page of many that Othniel sent to his brother Charles E. Merritt was the following: 'From here (Marcus Palmer (Sr) of Hampstead you already have all the Palmer data I have been able to find. It's all the result of 2 years hard work and the writing of over 100 letters of inquiry and the spending of over $100.00 cash to get all the data I did on the Palmers & Merritts. You now have full data on both the Merritts and the Palmers right back from yourself to England without a single break in it. (O.R.)' |
