Biographical Note* Sarah (Clark) Dykeman's father Gershom was born April 27, 1774, in East New Jersey, a son of Alexander Clark. Alexander 'had run away to join the King's army' and his property had been seized prior to May, 1779, when it was posted among forfeited estates in a claims notice. Her mother, Elizabeth, was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Sloat) Carle, New York Loyalists from Tarrytown, who went to Saint John in 1785.
