There are at least 3 LDS IGI records of this marriage, all dating 14 April 1771. Two records have the location as Newtown, New York, and the other as Elmhurst. The latter records Elmhurst as being in Queens County, but it is actually in the far northwest county of Chautauqua, New York. The records showing Newtown as the marriage location have it in Queens County. There are three places called Newtown, in Suffolk, Erie and Saratoga counties, New York.7,8 
Biographical Note "A William Lawrence, step-father, and Nancy Ann ____ had son Marcus Palmer b. DC (Dutchess County) 5 Aug. 1767 who m. Ann Nancy Slocum."9 
Biographical Note "William Lawrence had a tenant farm of 66 acres in Dutchess Co. rented from Roger Morris. Went to NYC in 1777 to avoid serving with the Americans. In August 1783 he moved to Gagetown in Queen's Co., NB and claimed £402."9 
Emigration*William Lawrence emigrated in July 1783 from New York. William, Mary and Marcus (son by her first marriage) emigrated from New York, on the ship Commerce with the Loyalist Fleet, landing at Saint John, New Brunswick. After obtaining land grants, they settled in Hampstead, further up the Saint John River. Marcus, his mother and stepfather settled back of Long Island, on the farm now owned and occupied by his grandson, David Palmer. (Extracted from 'History of Queen's County, N.B.' by E. Stone Wiggins, 1876, page 46.) Marcus seems to have moved to the St. John River where he settled near Long Island. (Extracted from The Journal, Saint John, N.B. year unkown); Loyalist Lineages of Canada, Vol. 1, pg. 629, and Vol. 2, pg. 1044-1046. There is a painting of the Loyalist Fleet, as well as the landing at Saint John, at the Canadian Heritage Gallery at the National Archives of Canada in Ottawa.10,7 
Death*He died in 1808, in Central Hampstead, Queens County, New Brunswick.6 
Burial*He was buried in the Palmer Cemetery, Central Hampstead, Queens County, New Brunswick.
