Notes for BESSIE PARKER: After her marriage she lived in Chicago, she had 4 or 5 children. Her husband shot himself. At one point she moved to California. Her mother Lydia (Eliza) lived with her there for a while. We have snapshots of the two of them at the beach in CA. She ended up in Cheyenne, WY. Earl & family stopped to visit her there on a trip to Texas, perhaps 1947. She died in Cheyenne of cancer. She is shown as deceased in the obit of her sister Alta, 1962. We have a photo of Bessie as a younger woman, perhaps late 30's?. Also photo taken at the beach in California with her mother Lydia. Millie and family stopped to see her on one of their trips to California and Millie made the following comment in her journal: 'Seen Bess, nice looking old lady. Ignorant, as always.²'

Notes for ELLA PARKER: Ella married a second time. She died in Hammond, IN. She had 2daughters, Lida and Evelyn (both died in Hammond, IN.) She is shown as married to Mr. Rust and a witness at her Sister Millie'smarriage. Aunt Pearl said she was very nice in so many ways. This story was related by nephew Kenneth Hartlerode (Alta's son): Ken said Ella died with a stomach tumor the size of a small basketball.He and his family rushed over to see Ella, but got there too late, shehad already died and men from the funeral home were taking her down 3flights of stairs on a stretcher to the waiting ambulance. Chicago hadrows and rows of apartments and all had 3 stories with stairs andbalconies at the rear of the building - Ella lived on the 3rd floor ofone of these row houses.
