He was the son of John Glover and Helen Radcliffe.2 
(First) Marriage*William Glover married first Sarah Walker, daughter of David Walker and Margaret Hetherington, in Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Marriage dates are not yet known for sisters Sarah and Nelly (Helen) Walker.4 
(Witness) MarriageWilliam Glover witnessed the marriage of Mary Glover and Israel Green on 11 September 1838 in Richmond Parish, Prince County, Prince Edward Island; "Israel Green (B) of Saint Eleanors and Mary Clay (W) of Lot 19, were married by license the eleventh September 1838. In the presence of William Glover, Daniel Green." The witnesses would be fathers of Mary and Israel.5,6 
(Second) Marriage*William Glover married second Nelly Walker, daughter of David Walker and Margaret Hetherington, William married Sarah first, and her sister, Nelly, second, after the death of Sarah. 
Death*William Glover died on 26 December 1863, at age 89, in Richmond, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, 46.507896,-63.991356; Obituary: "Friday Jan 22nd, 1864: at Richmond, Lot 19, on the 26th ult., Mr. William Glover, in the 90th year of his age. Deceased emigrated a large family of small children, took a farm in the dense forest, and after the necessary toils and hardships connected with clearing woodland, succeeded in placing his family in comfortable circumstances." The Islander, Friday Jan 22nd, 1864. His tombstone records a death date of 24 December 1863.7,3

Marriage*He married Ann Watmough on 3 May 1816.2 
Emigration*William Glover emigrated in 1817 from Dumfriesshire, Scotland; William and Ann settled in Five Lanes End, Prince Edward Island. "The five lanes were the roads that went to Charlottetown, New London, Princetown, St. Eleanors and the settlements of the French River area" (The Wright of Bedeque, Vol. 1, page 208). Five Lanes End later became known as Barrett's Cross when Mrs. Barrett opened an inn and tavern there. In 1851 William became the post master when the Barrett's Cross post office opened in William's house. In 1886, the name Barrett's Cross was changed to Kensington. Kensington was incorparted in 1914.3,4,5

Obituary: William Glover, died Kensington, Lot 19, P.E.I., 21 April 1875, aged 85 years. Emigrated from Dumfriesshire, Scotland to P.E.I. in 1817 with his wife and year-old son, and settled at Five Lane's End, also known as Glover's Cross, Lot 19. He was a resident of Kensington for 58 years. He was the first Post Master of Glover's Cross (known as Barrett's Cross after 1824) when it commenced operation in his house in 1851. Although the settlement was renamed Kensington after 1862, the Post Office was called Barrett's Cross until 1886 at which time it was known as Kensington. After 1851 mail and travellers came west from Charlottetown by stagecoach and William Glover operated a Coach House at which stage drivers stopped to rest while en route to St. Eleanor's, Lot 17 via the Main Post Road. The Kensington Post Office remained in the Glover home until 1927. William Glover was also appointed wool collector for Hope Mill Woolen Establishment at Eight Mile Stream, now Hunter River, Lot 23.
