She was bornin Rhode Island, as was James, then they moved to Sturbridge MA. She died Oct. 13, 1844 according to my records and is buried in theWhipple Cemetery (in Altamont, N.Y. where most of my relatives lived.) Ihave an old family tree that mentions that Mary Marcy's family came fromLimerick Ireland and it mentioned a 'John Marcy' whose father was thehigh sheriff of Limerick. We have a wonderful family bible that is owned by Sharen Rose Mehner thatwas originally owned by Mariam Lindsey Marden, the mother of Theresa JaneWarren, the mother of Eva Mae Damon, the mother of Warren Paul Mehner,the father of Sharon Rose Mehner (Thompson)! It was published in 1845in New York by the American Bible Society. Miriam was one of the famous 'Lowell Girls' who were single young ladieswho worked in the fabric mills near Boston, MA. We have a wonderfulseries of letters written to and from her in Lowell, MA in 1846. Also,for details on 'Lowell Girls', see pages 476-483 of 'The Americans, ASocial History of the United States' GP Putnam's Sons, NY, 1969 She married Phineas Gustavus Warren of Maine who was four years olderthan Mariam. Her only child, a daughter, Theresa Jane Warren was born Feb 12, 1849 inSearsport, Waldo County, Maine when Mariam was only 22. She died Nov. 19, 1852 at the age of 25. Her husband Phineas latermarried Vienna Conant whose mother was a Deshon (Deshom?). |
