Note*He was a politician and mill owner. William was also a lieutenant colonel in the local militia. He was elected to the House of Assembly in 1873, and Minister of Public Works. In 1887, he resigned his seat to run for the House of Commons in Ottawa. He and Elizabeth had 3 children. He and his second wife had five children.
