The deceased was formerly Susan Ramsay and was born in Charlotte Town, Prince Edwards, Canada on April 29, 1847. She spent her early years of her life there and in 1865 she was married to Henry MacLean.
Shortly after they came to the United States and lived in California, Omaha, Nebraska & Ashland for a few years before coming to Ontonagon 60 years ago where she made her home since.
Mrs. MacLean was one of the organizers and a charter member of the Presbyterian Church, Ontonagon and had always been an ardent worker. She was a member of the Dorcas Society of the church and also a charter member of the Macabees.
Mrs. MacLean was always in good health and her death came as a shock in the community. She had been suffering from the flu for a few weeks and was taken to the Ontonagon hospital a week ago but her condition was not considered serious until just the day before her death Friday, April 23.
Surviving are 1 son Gordon - Ontonagon and 4 daughters, Mrs. M. Lee & Mrs. M. Warren of Everett, Washington, Mrs. C. Potter of Spring Lake, Michigan and Mrs. B. Stone, Chicago, 8 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren. Mr. MacLean preceded her in death 25 years ago on April 23, 1912.
Pallbearers were Harry Vincent, Rudolph J. Watt, Austin Lowe, Walter O'Brien, Con Stripe & Norman Pennock.
The members of the Macabees Lodge attended the funeral in a body & had charge of the funeral at the cemetery.

There passed away on December 21st at his home in Hamilton, P.E.I. after a long illness, Mr. Wilfred Ramsay at 66 years of age. Mr. Ramsay had been in failing health for the past few years but was tenderly cared for by his wife and family. He was a prominent farmer of the district and was most highly esteemed.
Besides his widow he leaves to mourn seven sons and five daughters, namely: Leslie, Norman, David, Harold, Iazly, Clifford and Alfred; Mrs. Keir Clark, Mrs. John Daily, Mrs. Ronald Jamieson, Mrs. John Demoy, Mrs. Albert Silliphant; also three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Beer, Mrs. Norman Ferguson, and Mrs. Sadie Stewart, to all of whom sympathy is extended.
Mr. and Mrs. John Dailey, Mr. Norman Ramsay and Mrs. Sadie Stewart motored from Massachussetts to attend the funeral. The funeral was held on Thursday last, January 2nd, from Princetown United Church. Rev. Mr. Crowdis conducted the service. The pallbearers were Wilfred Gillis, William Hickey, Keir Ramsay, William Woodside, Daniel Morrison and William Hamilton. Interment was at Malpeque cemetery."6 |

He is survived by his son, Kenneth E.of Newport; two granddaughters, a grandson: two sisters, Mrs. A.Archibald of South Orrington, and Mrs. Lillian Everett of Norridgewock;and two nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m., at the Farnham FuneralChapel, Eric W. Bascom, pastor of the High Street Union Church,officiating. Burial will be in West Charleston.1 |
