Death*Lucy May Glover died on 26 March 1955, at age 74; Obituary: "The death occurred on Saturday at the Prince County hospital of Mrs. Vernon Matthew of Summerside. She was 74 years of age. The late Mrs. Matthew had been born in Summerside in the home on Water Street East, in which she was living at the time of her death. Apart from fifteen years in O'leary, all her life had been spent here. She had been in failing health for the past two years but her condition became more serious about two months ago, and three weeks ago she entered the hospital. She was the former Lucy Mae Glover, a daughter of the late Thomas Cairns Glover and his wife, Hannah Watters. She is survived by her husband and a daughter, Dolly, and a son, Thomas, both at home. Four children predeceased her, also surviving are seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. While living in O'leary Mrs. Matthew was active in many community movements and played the organ for both the Presbyterian and United Church services. After returning to Summerside she was an active member of the Ladies' Aid of the Presbyterian Church and of Read's Corner Women's Institute. In more recent years her health had forced her to give up these activities. Mr. and Mrs. Matthew were married fifty-two years ago on August 14th last. The funeral will take place on Tuesday at two o'clock from the residence. Burial will be in the People's Cemetery." The Journal, March 28,1955.2

In the presence of James Glover and William Rayner." Three of their children, Frances Maria, Elizabeth Ann and Margaret Grace, died in September 1859, and were buried within days of each other. The cause of their death is not known.2,1

Obituary: William Glover, died Kensington, Lot 19, P.E.I., 21 April 1875, aged 85 years. Emigrated from Dumfriesshire, Scotland to P.E.I. in 1817 with his wife and year-old son, and settled at Five Lane's End, also known as Glover's Cross, Lot 19. He was a resident of Kensington for 58 years. He was the first Post Master of Glover's Cross (known as Barrett's Cross after 1824) when it commenced operation in his house in 1851. Although the settlement was renamed Kensington after 1862, the Post Office was called Barrett's Cross until 1886 at which time it was known as Kensington. After 1851 mail and travellers came west from Charlottetown by stagecoach and William Glover operated a Coach House at which stage drivers stopped to rest while en route to St. Eleanor's, Lot 17 via the Main Post Road. The Kensington Post Office remained in the Glover home until 1927. William Glover was also appointed wool collector for Hope Mill Woolen Establishment at Eight Mile Stream, now Hunter River, Lot 23.
