Marriage attested by Rev. W. O. Towers. Record appears in Vol. 2, page20 of the Marriage Records for Salisbury Vermont. This was the first marriage for both Martin and Caroline. Caroline's family appears to have disowned her after her marriage toMartin. Apparantly they disapproved of him because he was a 'poor Irishfarmhand.'

This was Caroline's second marriage. Caroline had to work as a housekeeper after her first husband, MartinMack, died. Her family appears to have been unwilling to help supporther and her children due to their disapproval of that marriage. She metPhenner when she was working for his uncle keeping house. It seems thatPhenner's uncle was a rather wealthy man.

In 1735, land wasdeeded by his widow to his son, John Dyer, sixty acres and dwellinghouse, in Anshautatuck Neck. Charles Dyer was a blacksmith by trade.[Cutter] On 25 July 1712, John Scott of Newport, for L600 current money, deeded toCharles 'Dyere' of Dartmouth, in the County of Bristol & Province ofMassachusetts, Blacksmith, a mansion house and 113 acres, and severalsmall parcels of land in Providence.
