Note* | Baptized May 26,1695, 2d Church, Boston, Mass. Resided North Kingstown, RI. Note: Children, John, Edward, Abigail, Mary, and Jerusha have not beendocumented. [William Allan Dyer's Manuscript] 'Samuel Dyer(4) was the eldest son of Samuel Dyer(3) by his second wife,Mary -----. He was born in Boston, Mass on May 20, 1695 and was baptizedin the 2nd Old North Church there on May 25 1695. This was the Church hisfather and family attended as well as his uncles Henry and Barrett Dyre. The family removed about 1699/1700 to Bristol R.I. where other childrenwere born and apparently he eventually removed to North Kingstown, R.I.where the births of his seven children were recorded. Unfortunately, theTown Records were badly scorched in a fire which occurred in the TownHall, and parts of them are indecipherable - in this case only the datesof birth remaining, the names being obliterated. The writer (WilliamAllan Dyer) in company with Col. H. Anthony Dyer of Providence examinedthese records in hope of finding some trace of the names but this was invain. Our visit was made on May 22, 1940. Nevertheless by process of checking and eliminating we believe we can saywith a reasonable assurance that his children are those indicatedbelow..... these names are those of members of the family secured frommarriage records of Newport.' They had another child, name unknown, born 20 Oct. 1735, died 8 Nov 1735(RI Vital Records.) |
