Pittsfield, PA Oct 24/22 (1922) Well I feel somewhat ashamed to answer at this late date as I recieved yours quite away back and I shall not offer eny excuse but neglect and lazyness I guess tha twill cover it of corse I have had some worry to help it but now I con sagood moring one & all hoping you all well in boddy & mind we two ar stubbing around about as -----we ar well pleased to here you ar laying up so nice a lot of eatabols & canning of fruit like to come or drip in someday and help sampal some. yet of corse that is out of the questiomn it went do far us two children as yiu will tealize it would be running a risk ofcatching colds by changing beds & clymate in changable wether and in fact we may be a lazy call it what you may yet we dont think it wouold be very dangerous for you to lite out & come some day Well I have bought that peice of land of Long that lays on the Public Road front of where I live(?) I bought this having entend to taer it down and build next spring if I live and am abal Kibbeys ar all well and have got his barn (danc?) and the health of all Friends ar good as far as we know. Lock in 16th Independant Battery NY Volunteers-honorably discharged 26 Oct 1862. In part quoted 'That on or about the 2md day of Jul 1862 while at Fort Lyon Fairfax VA he contracted Scealic Rhumatism and Rhumatic Synanitus(?) which wholly disabled him from following his occupation which is that of a farmer. His life history is intimately bound into thehistory of Pipestone, as a pioneer merchant, member of the villagecouncil, Representative in the state legislature from this district, and manytimes Mayor of Pipstone. Ambrose Spencer Dyer was a native of New York State being born in OneidaCounty, June 19, 1845 having thus attained the age of 80 years, 8 months,and 21 days. He came to Illinois with his parents in early boyfood, andlater they moved to Houston County, Minnesota, he and his father engagingin business at Whalen. It was there he brought his bride, whose maidenname was Martha Vance, and whom he wedded on Oct 16, 1873 at LaCrosse,Wisconsin. They resided there until 1879, and in December of that year,he opened a general store in Pipestone. He continued in business until 1892, when he retired...................... Besides the bereaved wife, three sons and other relatives survive. Thesons are: Prof. William P. Dyer of New York City, Bay S. Dyer of Seattle, Washington, and Howard V. Dyer of Beverly, Washington. Two sisters, Mrs.Mattie Hill, and Mrs. Hattie Case, of Glendale, CA also survive.' [KenOlson] ============================================.
