Biographical Note* Susannah must have been a strong person; she survived the crossing of the Atlantic to give birth to Peregrine while the Mayflower was still at anchor, then survived the first disastrous winter which killed off most of the other women of the colony.

Once Edward Winslow became involved with politics, the family saw little of him. Susannah spent much of her married life apart from her spouse. The family moved to Marshfield by 1634.79

On 30 October 1623 Edward Winslow wrote from London to "his much respected Uncle Mr. Robert Jackson" who was clerk of the sewers at Spalding, Lincolnshire. In his letter he wrote that "almost two years since I wrote to my father-in-law declaring the death of his son White & the continued health of his daughter and her two children; also how that by God's providence she was become my wife.... My wife hath had one child by me, but it pleased him that gave it to take it again unto himself; I left her with child at my departure (whom God preserve) but hope to be with her before her delivery." This remains the best clue to her identity.79

"Great Migration" lists her death as "between 1654 and 1675."79

NOTE: Burial note says she was buried in Norfolk.

Birth*Susanna Jackson was born circa 1594 in possibly, Scrooby, Nottinghamshire, England.5
She was the daughter of Richard Jackson and Mary Pettinger.3,4
(First) Marriage*Susanna Jackson married first William White, son of Edward White and Thomasine Cross, he was described as a wool carder in the Leyden Company (Holland) in 1612 in the record of his betrothal to Susanna.6
Emigration*Susanna Jackson and William White emigrated on 6 September 1620 from Plymouth, Devonshire, England; on the Mayflower.7
Arrival*Susanna Jackson and William White arrived on 9 November 1620 at Plymouth Colony.7
(Second) Marriage*Susanna Jackson married second Edward Winslow, son of Edward Winslow and Magdalene Ollyver, on 12 May 1621 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, Susannah married Edward Winslow, a recent widower, in the first marriage ceremony in the Plymouth Colony. William Bradford, Mills ancestor, officiated.8,9,10
Death*Susanna Jackson died between 1654 and 1675; We do not know the date of Susanna’s death. Her name appears in her husband Edward’s will, written in 1654. She is not mentioned in her son Josias' will. It is therefore assumed that Susanna White Winslow died between 18 December 1654 (when Edward Winslow's will was written) and 2 July 1675 (the date of Josias Winslow's will).11
