Note*Seth Russell Anthony, son of Seth and Abigail (Clarke) Anthony, wasbornAugust 9, 1812, at Portsmouth, R. I. Mr. Anthony followed theoccupationof farming at Portsmouth, where he resided during his entirelife, andwhere his death occurred March 2, 1873, in his sixty-first year.He wasprominent in the life of the town, serving in the Town Council anwasoverseer of the poor. In politics he was a Republican, and in religionamember of the Society of Friends. He married (first) March 21, 1835,AbbyFreeborn, born September 12, 1815, a daughter of William Freeborn.She wasa direct descendant of William Freeborn who came from Ipswich,England, inthe ship 'Francis,' with his wife, Mar, and two children, Maryand Sarah,and after stopping for a time at Boston, settled in Portsmouth,where hewas a signer of the compact in 1638. Seth Russell Anthony married (second) March23, 1869, Henrietta Slocum, ofSmithfield, Providence county. There were no children by this union.

Appleby relict of the late Richard A. Lazier, died yesterday. Mrs. Lazier, who was born July 24, 1805, in the Township of Sophiasburg, Prince Edward Count, was in her 98th year. She was a daughter of Thomas B. Appleby, who was a well-known resident of that county. She was married in 1825 and survived her husband more than 30 years. Mrs. Lazier was a devout member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, was noted for her works of benevolence and charity, and had lived in the reign of five British Monarchs. She leaves a family of five sons and one daughter, namely Thomas A. Lazier, senior Judge of the County of Hastings; Col. Samuel S. Lazier, Master in Chancery; Nicholas A. Lazier, Richard L. Lazier, Stephen A. Lazier and Mrs. Robt. Elliott of Chicago. Twenty-six grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren survive her."1
