Birth*Thomas Goodwin was born circa 1810 in Isle of Man, United Kingdom.1
Marriage*He married Sarah Ann Corey, daughter of Palmer Corey and Sarah Freeman, circa 1838 in Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.1
Death*Thomas Goodwin died on 24 July 1885, in Qausqueton, Buchanan County, Iowa.1
Burial*He was buried on 28 July 1885 in Rowley Cemetery, Homer Twp, Buchanan County, Iowa, U.S.A..1
Biographical Note* The Mormon Church recorded that this data can be found in ref# 2034399. Thomas's age in 1850 census reads as 37 years old. (b:1813) He reported his job as teamster born in Ireland. This census was in Watertown, New York (Jefferson County). He was incapacitated most of his adult life. Chris looked after him to his own death in 1862. Thomas then applied for a pension which was granted a year before his own demise in 1885. He moved to Iowa after marrying Sarah Corey (about 1852). Thomas's marriage certificate to his second wife, Mrs Henneker, reported his birth place as England. The 1850 NY census reported his birth place as Ireland and a Corey book reported his birthplace as Isle of Man. He married Mrs Lucinda Hennecker in Rowley IA. in April 30 1876 with age reported as 57. He was a hired hand on a farm and she, (age 40) wasa maid working on the same farm. The July 30, 1885 BCJ (Buchanan County Journal) reporting on his death said that Thomas lived a mile west of this place died on a Saturday about 9 oclock. He was sick but a few days with diarrhea and flux (dysentry) being the principal cause of his death. He was buried on a Monday and was 75 years old. He died at Quasqueton with the attending docter named John Couch MD.1

Death*He died on 9 February 1947, in Prince Edward Island Hospital, Charlottetown, Queens County, Prince Edward Island, Canada; Obituary: "The Late Hugh John Gordon Held Various Responsible Positions in Bank of Nova Scotia

The death occurred in the Prince Edward Island Hospital on Sunday, Feb. 9, of Mr. Hugh John Gordon, retired bank manager, in his 75th year. A native of Alberton, a son of the late John and Mrs. Gordon, he joined the staff of the Charlottetown branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia on June 9, 1890, and served that institution continuously from that time until his retirement 42 years later.

A man of fine intellect and pleasing personality, his promotion was rapid and, after a comparatively brief apprenticeship at the Charlottetown branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia, the late Mr. Gordon was assigned to the North Sydney branch as manager. After a few years there, his ability as an executive was recognized by his assignment to take charge of the Bank's business in Port au Spain, Trinidad. From Trinidad he came to Moncton, N.B. as manager and after some years in the New Brunswick city was placed in charge of the Bank at Yarmouth, N.S. His next assignment was as manager of the Bank at San Juna, Puerto Rico in the West Indies. He retired from active service while manager of the Bank in St. Stephen, N.B.

On June 7, 1905 he married Jane Millner, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Wallace Millner of Charlottetown, and granddaughter of the late Mr. George Millner, who at one time conducted a business on Great George Street. Three daughters were born of the marriage: Margaret Huntley Syvertsen, whose husband is Dean of the faculty of Medicine, Dartmouth College, Hanover, N.H; Claire Millner Olmsted, who lives with her husband in Long Meadow, Mass; and Flora Huntley Russell, who resides with her husband in Jasper, Indiana. Besides his wife and three daughters, the late Mr. Gordon is also survived by three sisters: Mary, Annie, and Mrs. Alfred Phillips, all living in Summerside.

Imbued with a fine public spirit, the late Mr. Gordon was always ready to give of his time and talents to any movement having as its object the public welfare. For several years he acted as auditor for the Prince Edward Island Hospital, as well as treasurer for the Charlottetown Golf Club. He took a keen interest in religious matters and for several years, and up to the time of his death, was an elder of St. James Presbyterian Church.

The late Mr. Gordon had been in failing health for some months and never fully recovered from a stroke which he suffered last November.

Mr. R. H. Gordon, Alberton, a former Liberal member for the First District of Prince in the Provincial Legislature, is a cousin."4

Burial*He was buried in Sherwood Cemetery, Brackley, Queens County, Prince Edward Island, Canada.6
