He signed a will on 20 Apr 1787 in Sheffield Sunbury Co., NB. Proven 17 Mar1791. He died on 26 Mar 1791 in Sheffield, Sunbury Co., NB. Lived in Rowley, MA until 1764. Emigrated to Maugerville Township on Saint John River sometime on or after the summer of 1761 from MA with others under Colonel Alexander McNutt. They meant to replace the French Acadians who had been removed. The first ship arrived in 1763 and they immediately began to till the soil. The first crop was frost bitten however and they had a tough winter. Joshua Mauger, the Province Agent in London, took up their cause and their settlement was confirmed on 20 Dec 1763. They named the town after him. Richard Estey took up residence on Lot 24, in what was later called Sheffield. He built a log house from the virgin trees there. He was of puritan background. The original church covenant still existed in 1992, which he had signed, written in 1763: The church covenant of the Maugerville Congregational Church, which adheres to the Standing Order Congregational Cambridge Platform and was signed by seven men. . He signed as witness to a wedding without a minister in Feb 1766 in Maugerville along with Daniel Palmer, Francis Peabody, Samuel Whitney, George Hayward, David Palmer and Edward Coye. He also signed the church covenant. His name is engraved on a stone cairn erected on the N side of the Trans Canada Highway at Sheffield, near the United Church and cemetery, Sunbury Co., now NB. They belonged to a Congregational Church in Rowley MA and in 1764 they applied for a membership in a new church on the bank of the Saint John River at Sheffield, after they were probably well settled there. 273. Ruth FISKE died on 29 Jun. She was born on 20 Aug 1707 in Ipswich, Essex, MA. From Ancestral File (TM), data as of 2 January 1996. May have been the daughter of William of Wenham MA or Joseph Fiske of Ipswich MA, both sons of Deacon Wm Fiske b 1642/1643, d 5 Feb 1728, and Sarah Kilham, b 7 Nov 1640, d 26 Jan 1739.
