Mr. Gardiner was ailing for some time, but was in tolerable health and able to move about, until a very few days before his death. In the course of his eminently successful and useful career through life, he occupied some of the most prominent and honorable positions in the country. He was appointed by the Crown, a Legislative Councillor for Prince Edward Island, in 1860 - a position which he held for three years. In 1864, he was High Sheriff of this County, and President of the Summerside Bank from 1866 to 1869. Mr. Gardiner died on Thursday the 10th inst., in the 76th year of his age, and was interred at Centreville, Bedeque, on Saturday." [He is actually buried in Bedeque Cemetery, Lower Bedeque, Prince Edward Island.].6,2 |

"Major Hooper (B) and Sarah Green (S) of St. Eleanors, were married under license from the Lieut. Governor this 26th day of March 1834, by me A.V.G. Wiggins. In the presence of Charles Green and George Towsnhend." They had two daughters and at least two sons born in North St. Eleanor's, Prince Edward Island. They lived there until the late 1850's, when they moved to New Hampshire. There is a simple white marble tombstone in St. John's Anglican Church Cemetery (46.41961,-63.81079), St. Eleanors, that has the inscription "Infant / children of / Major & Sarah / Hooper".
