DeathHe died on 25 January 1922 in Borden, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, CanadaG.

Obituary: "Tragic Accident at Borden

A deplorable fatal accident occurred at Port Borden on Wednesday the victim of which was Mr. Patrick Muncey, an employee of the C.N.R. Railway yard at that place, who came to his death by falling beneath a moving freight car. No person, it appears, actually witnessed the accident but it is supposed that Mr. Muncey who was last seen standing on the rear steps of an auxiliary car, a flat car used for shunting, must by some mischance have lost his footing and slipped off the steps and have fallen upon the rail. Switchman Darrach, yard foreman, was standing on the steps of the same car directly opposite Muncey but did not observe him fall. He noticed however, that something caused the two front wheels to leave the track where there is a curve in it and upon going to investigate found that this was caused by the unfortunate man’s body which had been dragged for a short distance and was terribly mangled.

The remains were removed to the waiting room where an inquest was held Thursday by Dr. Tanton and a verdict of accidental death in accord with the circumstances was rendered. The very sad affair has caused deep regret, the deceased being a fine young man about 32 years of age who was held in much esteem. He was a son of the late F. C. Munsey, for many years in charge of the Anglo-American Telegraph office at Cape Traverse. He is survived by his mother, two brothers, Ling W., and Frank, both in Vancouver, and his two sisters, Mrs. Dr. Tanton and Miss Sue Muncey of Summerside to all of whom the deepest sympathy goes out in their very sad bereavement."2,3
