Obituary: "Many Pay Their Final Tributes To Worthy Citizen
The esteem in which the late Mr. Thomas Hooper Schurman of New Annan was held was evidenced by the large number of people who attended the funeral yesterday afternoon. The service at the home was conducted by Rev. Mr. Hoddinott, assisted by Rev. C. A. Britton of Bedeque. Interment was made in the People's Cemetery, Summerside. The pallbearers were Messrs. Benjamin Pillman, John Pillman, Allie MacNeill, Arthur Wright, Alban Leckie, Donald Baker.
Mr. Schurman passed away at 6:30 last Saturday morning after almost a year's illness. He was 57 years of age, a son of the late George Schurman and he lived on the homestead with his parents until 34 years ago when he married Miss Leona Montgomery of New Annan and purchased a farm a short distance from his home, and there lived in harmony and contentment with his wife and three sons, Alfred, New Annan; Donald and Eldon at home, all of whom survive.
Mr. Schurman was an excellent farmer and a lover of horses, a good neighbor, always willing to do even the most casual acquaintance a good turn when occasion offered. Apart from his immediate family, his mother survives, also one brother, Harry, on the homestead, and two sisters, Mrs. Talmage Montgomery and Mrs. Henry Moase, both of New Annan. Two brothers, Leonard and Ray, died some time ago."3
