King Edward IV was only 19 when he, the Duke ofYork, defeated Henry VI, his Lancasterian rival at Towton. 'King Edward was well equipped to meet the challenge of bringing order toa country which for six years had been torn by civil war. He was nearly6 ft. tall and his striking good looks gave him the physical presence ofa king. And he also possessed administrative skill.
