Glasier Estabrooks1

Note* | From: 'George H. Hayward' Donald Coy Date: Wed, 02 Dec 1998 18:56:02 -0400 Subject: Estabrooks Dear Don, From: 'George H. Hayward' To:'Donald R. Coy ' Date: Tue, 01 Dec 1998 09:25:35 -0400 Subject: Ruth (Colson) Estabrooks Dear Don, Don Coy asked if I could identify Ruth (Colson) who married third, Glasier Estabrooks, in 1867. I have checked Florence Estabrooks' 'Genealogy of the Anglo-Dutch Estabrooks Family' and Darryl A. Bonk's 'The Estabrooks of New Brunswick.' Both books show Glasier, born about 1807, son of Hammond and Rebecca (Glasier) Estabrooks, but they show Glasier's wife as Elsie Estabrooks, and say that they moved to Amity, Maine, in 1840. Florence Estabrooks, by the way, said that the Glasier family owned large tracts of land at Lincoln, Sunbury County, N.B., and were in the lumbering business there. When she married, Rebecca's parents gave her a small property there, and Hammond apparently worked in the Glasier lumber mills. So Glasier Estabrooks was probably born in Lincoln rather than in Queens County, N.B. George H. Hayward ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ From: 'George H. Hayward' To: Donald Coy Date: Wed, 02 Dec 1998 18:56:02 -0400 Subject: Estabrooks About 8 to 10 years ago I corresponded with: Louella Ryan RFD 1, Box 217 Island Falls, ME 04747 She sent some Estabrooks notes to me (which do not mention Glasier Estabrooks), but she seemed to be quite knowledgeable on the Estabrook family in that area. I do not know if she is still there, but you may want to write and ask. Pretty well all the Estabrooks families in the area south of Houlton, and in Houlton, appear to have dropped the 's' from the end of the name. George H. Hayward ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Florence Estabrooks said the Glasier family owned large tracts of land atLincoln, Sunbury County, N.B., and were in the lumbering business there. When she married, Rebecca's parents gave her a small property there, andHammond apparently worked in the Glasier lumber mills. Note* | This family moved from New Brunswick to Amity, Maine, in 1840. When she married, Rebecca's parents gave her a small property there, and Hammond apparently worked in the Glasier lumber mills. So Glasier Estabrooks was probably born in Lincoln rather than in Queens County,N.B. .... George H. Hayward 01 Dec. 1998. Florence C. Estabrooks said Hammond , born near Gagetown, January 29,1783.
