He attended country schools and Black Hills State College. He taught in Wyoming and South Dakota schools until retiring in 1965. He was also in the trucking business for about 15 years. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge and the United Methodist Church in Fairburn and served on the Fairburn School Board. He married May Nilson June 1st, 1924, at Fairburn.
