Obituary: "The sudden death of Minnie Walker occurred on Saturday, February 5, 1983. She was the daughter of the late Thomas D. and Margaret Carruthers. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Ernest L. Walker, Summerside; one daughter Evelyn Frank, Manotick, Ontario; four sons, Kenneth, Summerside; George, Cold Brook, Nova Scotia; Neil, Charlottetown; John, Summerside. Also 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. As well, she is survived by a sister, Mirima Muttart, Kentville, N.B.
She was predeceased by a son Thomas and a brother John.

Mrs. Walker was a member of the Summerside Presbyterian Church and a life member of the WMS, as well as an active member of the Abegweit Chapter of the IODE. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home until noon Tuesday, then to the Summerside Presbyterian Church for funeral service at 2 p.m. Entombment will be in Peoples Cemetery receiving vault. Visiting hours Monday 2-4 and 7-9. Memorials to the Summerside Presbyterian Church memorial fund would be appreciated."⁵

Obituary: "Funeral services for the late Thomas Dawson Carruthers were held at his late residence, 168 Spring Street, Summerside, at 2 p.m. Sunday. Rev. J. Donald MacKay assisted by the Rev. Alex. MacKay were the officiating clergymen. Members of the Masonic Lodge were in attendance with the Masonic burial service being conducted by Arthur Dawson. Honorary pallbearers were Hugh Morrison, Peter G. Clark, Vernon Matthews, James Cairns, Dr. R. S. P. Carruthers, George Callbeck, William Schurman, Reginald Ellis, Arthur Dawson. F. Arnett. The deceased, a highly respected and prominent citizen of Summerside, died Friday at his home. He was born at Borden in 1875, son of the late Robert Carruthers and Hannah MacWilliams. He came to reside in Summerside 48 years ago and since that time had been closely associated with the business and civic life of the community. During that period he held responsible positions with such firms as R. T. Holman Ltd., Brace, McKay Co., and the Summerside Ranching Company. In 1925 he joined the Canadian National Silver Fox Breeders Association as an inspector and in 1938 was appointed secretary of the company, a position with he held until 1953 when he retired due to ill health caused by a heart condition.

He was at all times interested in and ready to take part in any project for the advancement of the town of Summerside and he served with honor, several terms as town councillor. He was a life member, Past Master of Hiram & Lebanon Lodge and a member of the Albert Edward Lodge of Perfection.

He was twice married. His first wife was Margaret McFadyen of Augustine Cove and of this union there were three children: Mrs. Ernest L. Walker (Minnie), Summerside; John who died in 1955; and Mrs. Reginald H. Muttart (Miriam), Kentville, N.S. His second wife who survives is the former Etta Walker of New Annan. Interment was in the Church of Scotland Cemetery, Cape Traverse".⁴
