In 1961, John went to Ottawa and became the Centennial Commissioner for Canada's 100th Birthday Party. John Wiggins Fisher was a folk historian, radio personality, an executive of the Canadian Tourism Association, a Newspaper Publisher (Northwest Publications in British Columbia) and was dubbed as 'Mr. Canada'. One of the many articles about John Wiggins Fisher was printed in Reader's Digest, December 1967 entitled, 'Meet Mr.Canada'.
