Obituary: "The Sad Death of Arthur Prichard
The sympathy of the citizens of Summerside goes out to Mr. and Mrs. James H. Prichard and family in the great sorrow which has come to them in the sudden death of their oldest son, Arthur, which occurred at 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday in Harrington, Maine, as the result of a collision between the motor cycle which he was riding and a Ford car. The deceased, who had been residing in North Brookfield, Mass., for some time, was on his way to his home in Summerside to spend his vacation with his parents and had covered about four hundred miles of the journey from North Brookfield when death overtook him as stated. Further details of the sad affair have not yet been received. The above particulars were received in a telegram by Mr. H. T. Holman, whose wife is a sister of Mrs. Prichard. Few lads in Summerside were more popular than Arthur Prichard and his death on the very threshold of his young manhood – he was twenty years of age – is a terrible blow to his parents, and the rest of the family. Of splendid physique, and of an exceedingly fine character, his untimely death will be mourned by many. It is only a little over two years ago since he left Summerside to engage in electrical work in the United States. His father, Mr. James H. Prichard, the well-known Secretary of the Canadian Silver Fox Association, was in Ottawa when the sad news came. He is expected home tonight when the remains of his son will arrive. Besides the bereaved parents there are left to mourn two sisters, Misses Constance and Hope and two brothers, Norman and Reginald, to all of whom deepest sympathy is extended in their sad loss."3,1
