| Biographical Note | Capt. Alex Kennedy was engaged in coastal shipping in the Maritimes. He lived on Water Street, Summerside. After Mary Jane's death he moved to Sydney and lived with his children Herman and Maggie on Bentinck Street. When he came to Sydney he built a replica of a small schooner and rigged it so he could sail it himself. It was a familiar sight in the water off Sydney. Early records refer to him as Ellis Kennedy, no doubt to distinguish from his father.2 |
