In 1844 he opened a tavern on the northeast corner of Church and Main Streets. In 1850 he was granted a license to sell spirituous liquors. He also operated the "Alberton House". He owned considerable land in and around Alberton. In Elmsdale he had another general store, and also operated a saw, steam, grist and shingle mill. He installed the first circular saw that came west to the Island in 1832. The mills were run for many years, and operated later by his son Bruce. He owned the land where his sister Hannah and Samuel Cannon lived up to the time their house burned to the ground along with the loss of five of their children on 4 April 1857. Marriage	He married Catherine Weston daughter of Joseph Weston and Mary Ann Tucker, on 13 November 1841.1
City Directory	Edmund C. Wallace appeared in the City Directory in 1864 in Lot 4, Alberton, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, CanadaG, Edmund Wallace was listed in the 1864 Hutchinson's P.E.I. Directory as an inn keeper.4
Census	He was head of the household in the census on 4 April 1881 in Lot 4, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, CanadaG. included in the household were his wife Catherine and daughters Emiline & Laura. Death	He died on 20 December 1905 in Alberton, Prince County, Prince Edward IslandG.6
