| Birth | Robert Daniel was born About 1592, in EnglandG. |
| Will | He left a will on 3 July 1655. He signed a will on 3Jul 1655 in Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Left to his wife Reana' over and besides the part of the estate which I received with her uppon my mariage to her' 40 shillings a year for live, paid 1.2 in fruits and 1/2 in wheat. Household goods equally divided amongst 5 children. Gave his cousin Anna Newcomen a cow, and Elder Frost 40 shillings. To his daughter Eliz Fanning 50 pounds in cattle and corne, to 3 youngest children 50 pounds each at age 21, or a year after mariage. Remainder he left to his sone Samuel; executor with Thomas Fanning, son in law and friends Richard Jacson and Thomas Danforth. Executers were to pay yearly 5 pounds each to his sone Joseph, daughters Sarah and Mary in corn or cattle. His signature showed a readable hand. Witnessed by Jonathon Shepard and Thomas Danforth. The inventory showed a mansion house, orchard, 26cultivated land 24 acres uncultivated 2 acres meadow, 4 acres salt meadow2 acres remote meadow, 4 acres Chesters meadow 65 acres remote dividents (sic) 29 acres beyond the great plain, 7 acres remote meadow with the value estimated at 160 pounds. He left some books: The soul's Conflict, a book by Mason, others by Rogers, Giffords, and Mathers, a psalm book, and a great bible. The usual suits, cloaks, pants, shoes, musket, sword, fowling piece, hour glass, oxen cows calves colt etc. The estate was divided 14 Jun 1722. He died on 6 Jul 1655 in Cambridge, Middlesex Co., and MA. Arrived in America prior to July. 25, 1636 when Robert was granted 25 acres at Watertown, MA where he settled. Granted 5 lots. Purchased the home stall of Nicholas Jacobs: 13Acres near a later U.S. Arsenal. Admitted freeman 14 mar 1638/1639. Moved to Cambridge in 1651. Released from training Apr 1655. His son Samuel came with him, but daughter Elizabeth (age 2) came with her maternal grandfather. It may be supposed that this arrangement was made due to the recent or expected birth of son Thomas about 1635. A constable at Watertown in 1651, he removed to Cambridge about 1654, possibly encouraged by both his second marriage and the following entries in the Watertown records: 'at a meeting of the Selectmen the 8/4/1654 Rebert Geneson and John Knap Complaining that Robert Daniell that hee Did not fence his pportion within their feild -- It Did appeere by testymony of Mr whitny and his owne Confession that all his Land was by his owne act in a generall feild with them and hee Could not make it appeere that he hath taken himsefe orderly out The sentance of the Select men is that wher as it Dooth apeere that Robert Daniel hath a paffell of Land within their feeld Containing 8 or 10 akers mor or Les, that he shal fence it by equall pportion with the rest of the Comoners.' 'Vpon a second hearing of Goodman Daniell sute the towne Dooth not see any thing to mooue them to alter their minds but Doe Judg him a delinquent to the Towne 20 s fine according to the Towne order.'. |
