NameIsaac Judson Gunter was also known as Judson Gunter.
NoteJudson Gunter purchased the present Gunter farm next to the Isaac/GeorgeGunter farm in Bear Island. He moved a house from Long Island (2 miles away in the St. John River) to his farm. The house was home to his son, Leverette and grandson, Edison until the flooding by the Mactaquac dam in 1967. The house was again moved and it is now owned by Stanley Hagerman. There is a photograph of the house and barn taken shortly after Judson died in 1912 (This photo is in Judson's scrapbook in this file #2464). Judson was also a carpenter and helped build several houses in Bear Island area. He and Hughie Manuel built the Fred Huestis house. He turned the top 10 feet of the Bear Island Church spire with horsepower, and also turned the red granite rock that was bigger than a water pail and set atop the spire. Judson's wood shaping tools that he used for carpentry work, are in the possession of Wayne Gunter. The above account is found in: The Gunter Family Heritage File, compiled by Wayne Gunter.
