Immigration	He immigrated to Prince Edward IslandG, in 1821. he taught on the Island for a short time, and then moved to Little Shemogue, New Brunswick, having received a land grant in Fredericton. He taught for a few years in Fredericton, returning to Little Shemogue in 1827, where he built a log house beside the river which flowed through his land. He returned to Scotland in 1833 and brought his family to New Brunswick that same year. The vessel they travelled on landed at Richibucto, and from there they travelled by smaller vessel to Little Shemogue. They landed at Johnston's Point, and from there they followed the winding river until they reached the log cabin that Thomas had built for his family.2
