DeathRobert Bruce Barlow died on 19 October 1915 in home, Wellington, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, CanadaG.

the book entitled Preserving the Wallace Family incorrectly published his death date as 7 July 1904. Obituary: "Bruce Barlow, a well-known resident of Wellington, and for many years past owner of Wellington flour and feed mills, suicided on Tuesday last. He was at work with a number of men repairing his mill and appeared to be in his usual health and spirits when he started for his house a few steps away saying he would go and get some more nails. About an hour later his five or six year old stepson went to the attic for something and found the deceased hanging from a crossbeam. Dr. Jardine, the coroner, was summoned, but decided an inquest was unnecessary under existing circumstances as it was quite evident that the act was premeditated. Mr. Barlow was in his fifty-second year and was probably one of the most generally known men in this section of the province. He leaves to mourn a wife, one daughter by his first marriage, and two children of the present family to whom much sympathy is extended in this their sad hour of great bereavement."7

He was born there on July 25th, 1867, the son of the late William and Jane Barlow. He began his work at the mill at the early age of thirteen and operated a grist, saw and carding mills until a few weeks before his death. He will be much missed by the people of the surrounding communities.

He was married in the Wellington Church on September 26, 1888 to Florence Ann Boates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Boates, Tyne Valley.

He leaves to mourn his widow, two sons and three daughters: Howard at Wellington; Jack on the homestead; Mrs. John Percival, Wellington; Mrs. Roy MacLure, Union Corner; Mrs. Rufus MacLure, Wellington; one brother and two sisters: William, Wellington; Mrs. Caroline Nelson, Charlottetown; and Mrs. Damerus Nelson, Watertown, Mass; also nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His funeral, one of the most largely attended in the community for years, was held Thursday afternoon from his home at 2 p.m. There was a short service at the home and one hymn "Shall We Gather at the River" was sung. The funeral procession then proceeded to the United Church where the pastor, Rev. Mr. Vincent, spoke very highly of the deceased. The hymns sung were" The Lord is My Shepherd" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye". Mr. Jas. Phillips sang a solo "Will The Circle Be Unbroken." The Wellington choir was assisted by singers from Summerside.
