Cherished grandfather of 19 and great-grandfather of 18. Dear brother of Gertrude Watson and Joseph (Charlotte) Cannon, and brother-in-law of Agnes Cannon and James MacNabb. Predeceased by infant daughter Mary Margaret, infant son Andrew Thomas, grandsons Benjamin Todd Huggett, Garry Steven Huggett, brothers; Louis, James, Stratton, and John, sister; Rita MacDonald, sisters-in-law; Jennie Cannon, Kay Cannon, Phyllis Cannon and Marion Hazelwood and brothers-in-law; John Watson and Frank MacNabb. Andrew served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders from 1939-1945, he lead one of the first troops to the shores of Juno beach on D-Day during the Normandy invasion. During his tour of duty he was sent over-seas to England, Belgium, Holland, Germany and France. Along with his 3 sons and his son-in-law he returned to the beaches of Normandy for the 50th anniversary on D-Day where he was decorated by the mayor of Caen. Andrew returned home to PEI and moved to Sarnia in 1950 where he worked as a carpenter with Local 1256 since 1953. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict?s Catholic Church, 1011 Oak Ave. Sarnia. Cremation will follow. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph?s Hospice."2 |
