William and his brother Henry, who was visiting from Hunter River, had gone to a neighbour of William's to get fence rails that William had accused the neighbour, George Howell, of stealing from William's fences. On their second trip to retrieve fence rails, George Howell approached the brothers and shot William, who was standing in front of his brother. William died 4 days later.4 |
